How it works

Finasteride reduces DHT at the hair follicle. This helps slow or stop further thinning and can improve density if started early, before extensive loss. It won’t regrow hair in completely bald areas.

• Dosage: one 1 mg tablet daily, long-term.
• Results: most men notice stabilisation or visible thickening after 4–6 months. Stopping the medication allows hair loss to resume.

Possible side effects

Uncommon but important to know:

• Reduced sex drive
• Erectile dysfunction
• Breast tenderness or enlargement
