DUTASOL Topical Dutasteride + Minoxidil: UK TrichoSol Compounded Formula

What is DUTASOL?

DUTASOL is our custom compounded topical dutasteride solution, formulated with minoxidil 10% in our proprietary TrichoSol base. It is made to order in a UK GPhC registered partner pharmacy and delivered with a personalised label.

One bottle delivers two clinically proven actives in a single daily application: dutasteride to block scalp DHT, and high-strength minoxidil to stimulate follicles. For men with stubborn or advanced hair loss, this dual-action approach is often more effective than either active alone.

How DUTASOL Works

Dutasteride is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor that blocks both Type I and Type II forms of the enzyme, reducing scalp DHT by approximately 90%. Oral dutasteride tablets are more powerful than finasteride at suppressing DHT, but at the cost of higher systemic exposure.

The topical route delivers dutasteride directly to the scalp, where it is needed, with substantially lower systemic absorption than the oral form. Minoxidil 10% then extends the growth (anagen) phase of the hair cycle and improves local blood flow to the follicles.

For the head-to-head comparison of dutasteride and finasteride, see our finasteride vs dutasteride guide.

Key Benefits

  • Dutasteride 0.025% to 0.1%: blocks Type I and Type II 5-alpha reductase, cutting scalp DHT at the source.
  • Minoxidil 10%: high-strength follicle stimulation, double the concentration of most over the counter foams.
  • TrichoSol base: alcohol-light and propylene glycol-free, clean absorption with no greasy residue or strong solvent odour.
  • Once daily dosing: 1ml on the scalp, no separate bottles to manage.
  • Custom strengths available: message us with your order if you need an intermediate strength such as 0.15% or 0.25% dutasteride.

Who Is DUTASOL Suitable For?

DUTASOL is intended for adult men with moderate to advanced male pattern hair loss, especially those who have plateaued on finasteride alone or on standard topical regimens. It is a stronger formula than topical finasteride and is best chosen after some experience with topical hair loss treatments.

DUTASOL is not suitable for women, anyone under 18, or anyone with broken or irritated scalp skin. Both dutasteride and finasteride can cause birth defects in male foetuses, so women who are pregnant, may become pregnant, or are breastfeeding must not handle this product.

Directions for Use

  • Apply 1ml once daily to a clean, dry scalp using the included dropper.
  • Massage gently into the thinning areas. Leave on for at least 4 hours before rinsing or styling.
  • One 100ml bottle lasts approximately 3 months at this dose.
  • Use consistently. Visible regrowth typically starts at month 3 to 4 and continues over the first 12 months.
