Finasteride 1mg is a prescription only hair loss medication. It’s widely known under the brand name of Propecia, but the actual medication is called Finasteride.
Finasteride belongs to a group of medicines called 5 alpha reductase inhibitors and has been used to treat hair loss since 1990.
Finasteride works by combating the effects of DHT on hair follicles. Finasteride is commonly called a DHT blocker, however it is not referred to by this name in the medical community.
Finasteride is available in the form of tablets as a treatment for male pattern baldness. This treatment works best if used early in the natural progression of hair loss, and is less effective when hair loss is well established as it is used to stop further hair loss and will not restore lost hair.
